Broadway puts on annual high-end smorgasbord

Someone forgot to tell Christopher Mangless that Green Bay’s biggest summer party isn’t supposed to be so much work.
While Taste On Broadway patrons were content kicking back with a cold beer or bouncing from crowded line to crowded line during the Thursday night sample-a-thon, Mangless and his staff of eight from Three Three Five were cranking out bold bites a la minute.
A gorgeous evening for soaking up the summer sun with 27 area restaurants in downtown Green Bay, the sights, sounds and smells were undoubtedly meant to inspire casual conversation about some of the city’s finest food. It’s why for Mangless, Taste is an ongoing audition — and best of all, a high-pressure chance to put his North Broadway dining studio and catering service on the map.
“It’s a super labor intensive process for us. We’re talking three days worth of work put into it,” said Mangless, who served up organic prosciutto and lump blue crab. “We see new faces, familiar faces, and the goal is to keep things changing for them. It’s about keeping customers interested, keeping them surprised about food. And hopefully you can twist some arms, get people thinking in the right direction about supporting local restaurants.”
